Lab Technician

About the role

M. Islam Medical & Dental College in Gujranwala is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to support reliable laboratory services in a medical and dental education setting. The technician helps ensure that specimens, equipment and work areas are handled safely and that laboratory activities are completed accurately and efficiently. This is an on-site role working closely with laboratory colleagues and clinical or academic staff.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, receive, label, prepare and process specimens according to established procedures.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and record results accurately for review by authorized staff.
• Prepare reagents and maintain, clean and check laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Follow infection-control, biosafety and waste-disposal procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain clear records of specimens, test results, quality checks and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and report shortages, equipment faults or unusual results promptly.
• Keep the laboratory organized and help maintain quality standards and patient confidentiality.

Required profile

• Ability to collect, label, prepare and handle specimens carefully while maintaining sample integrity.
• Competence in routine laboratory testing, basic analytical techniques and accurate result documentation.
• Familiarity with laboratory instruments, routine equipment checks, cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of biosafety, infection prevention, personal protective equipment and safe waste disposal.
• Strong attention to detail when following protocols, checking identifiers and recording data.
• Organized approach to maintaining laboratory logs, supplies and clean work areas.
• Clear communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to escalate discrepancies or equipment concerns.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality, quality procedures and dependable on-site attendance.
