Lead Backend Engineer - Node.JS

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Node.js and cloud‑native architecture on AWS. You will drive the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and high‑performance backend systems for enterprise‑grade applications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of backend services using Node.js frameworks such as Express.js, NestJS or Fastify.
• Architect and implement cloud‑native solutions on AWS, including compute, storage, database and serverless services.
• Define technical strategy, conduct architecture reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, DevOps, QA, product and enterprise teams to ensure end‑to‑end delivery.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices and event‑driven architectures.
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, security and performance through monitoring and optimization.
• Mentor senior engineers, lead code reviews and guide technical discussions.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation, infrastructure improvements and monitoring solutions.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on Node.js development experience.
• Proven track record leading enterprise‑scale engineering projects and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong problem‑solving, architectural decision‑making and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience working in agile, lean environments.

• AWS services (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM)
• Docker & Kubernetes
• SQL and NoSQL databases
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Performance optimization, caching and scalability techniques
• TypeScript and GraphQL (preferred)
• SAP Fiori/UI5 exposure (strong plus)
