Manager Legal Affairs

About the role

Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, a non-governmental and charitable organization founded in 1985 and delivering eye care since 1991, is hiring a Manager Legal Affairs. This is a full-time, on-site position based at the hospital in Rawalpindi, overseeing all legal matters related to its operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and manage contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
• Provide timely legal advice to management and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Support sound corporate governance practices.
• Handle legal queries and coordinate with external legal counsel when needed.
• Manage legal risk and assist in policy development.
• Support internal stakeholders on the legal aspects of projects and initiatives.
• Contribute to legal awareness through guidance and training on legal and regulatory obligations.

Required profile

• Law degree (LLB or equivalent); additional legal certifications or a master's degree in law, health law or corporate law are an advantage.
• Experience providing legal advice to senior management and internal stakeholders on operational, contractual and compliance matters.
• Prior experience in a healthcare, non-profit or corporate environment, preferably in a legal or compliance management role.
• Demonstrated integrity, discretion and commitment to ethical practices and non-discriminatory service delivery.

Required skills

• Ability to interpret and apply statutes, regulations and case law.
• Proficiency in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, agreements and policies.
• Knowledge of corporate governance principles and support for governance frameworks and board processes.
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to explain complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
