National Medical Doctor – Clinical Care Provider

About the role

The National Medical Doctor delivers comprehensive patient care, overseeing acute and chronic conditions while promoting health and safety. The role combines direct clinical responsibilities, supervision of staff, data‑driven quality improvement, and community health education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality clinical care based on history, physical examination, laboratory and imaging results, and formulary‑approved treatments.
• Conduct daily patient rounds, document progress, adjust management plans, and ensure proper handover.
• Recommend additional testing or advanced care and initiate referral processes when needed.
• Lead regular case discussions and hands‑on training sessions for junior staff.
• Identify training gaps, advocate for staff development, and deliver didactic or practical training.
• Utilize data‑collection tools, train others in their use, and analyse service data to improve care quality.
• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control measures in line with MoH and international standards.
• Participate in a 24‑hour health service delivery system according to shift schedules.
• Follow international protocols for patient assessment, diagnostics, and medication prescribing.
• Supervise clinical staff, assist in hiring when required, and maintain administrative duties such as record‑keeping and supply management.
• Provide health education on disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, vaccination, and lifestyle choices.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, report any code‑of‑conduct violations, and perform outreach services as assigned.

Required profile

• Medical degree (primary‑care physician) with a valid license to practice.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible status.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
