Plant Inspection Officer – KPK & Azad Kashmir

About the role

The National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) is building a foundational team to safeguard Pakistan's agri‑trade ecosystem. As a Plant Inspection Officer you will conduct phytosanitary inspections of plants, plant products and regulated articles at points of entry and exit across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Azad Kashmir.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out phytosanitary inspections in line with laws and standard operating procedures.
• Collect official samples for diagnostic analysis, maintaining chain of custody and documentation.
• Verify export consignments against importing‑country phytosanitary requirements before certification.
• Supervise and confirm phytosanitary treatments such as fumigation, heat, cold, and other approved measures.
• Inspect and monitor approved facilities (packhouses, warehouses, treatment sites, quarantine stations, conveyances) for compliance.
• Implement prescribed measures on non‑compliant consignments, including detention, re‑export, or destruction.
• Detect, record and report pest interceptions, non‑compliance, suspected fraud or bio‑security risks.
• Coordinate with Customs and other border agencies during inspection and clearance processes.

Required profile

• B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture with a specialization in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or a related field (minimum 16 years of education).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in plant quarantine, plant protection, inspection or related operations (fresh candidates with strong practical exposure may be considered).
• Knowledge of sampling, inspection procedures and basic phytosanitary requirements.
• Ability to work in field/shift environments while maintaining high integrity.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills for record entry and reporting.
