Production Manager – Surgical Instruments Manufacturing

About the role

The Production Manager will lead end‑to‑end manufacturing operations for surgical instruments, ensuring that production targets are met on time, within budget, and in full compliance with international medical‑device quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and direct daily workflow across all production stages, from raw‑material forging to cleanroom packaging.
• Allocate manpower and machine capacity to achieve daily and monthly throughput goals.
• Coordinate with sales, export and supply‑chain teams to align production schedules with customer order lead times.
• Enforce ISO 13485, MDR/CE and FDA QSR compliance, monitor rejection rates and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate batch records, material certifications and traceability documentation in the ERP system.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kanban, Kaizen) to reduce cycle times and increase OEE.
• Oversee preventive‑maintenance programmes for forging presses, CNC machines, polishing and passivation equipment.
• Lead, mentor and train production supervisors, technicians and operators on SOPs and safety practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy or Business Administration.
• 5–10 years of hands‑on production‑management experience in surgical instrument or medical‑device manufacturing.
• Proven ability to manage complex, regulated production environments.

Required skills

• ISO 13485, MDR/CE and FDA Quality System Regulations knowledge.
• Odoo ERP (or comparable) for inventory, WIP, BOM and routing management.
• Lean Manufacturing tools: 5S, Kanban, Kaizen, OEE improvement.
• CNC machining, forging, heat‑treatment, polishing, electro‑polishing, passivation and ultrasonic cleaning processes.
• Preventive‑maintenance planning for high‑precision equipment.
