Programme Policy Officer – Protection & Risk Management (Level 9)

About the role

The World Food Programme is building a roster of pre‑qualified professionals to support its Protection and Risk Management functions in Pakistan. The Programme Policy Officer will work closely with the Head of Corporate Risk Management Unit and the Protection team to ensure that WFP’s interventions are safe, compliant and aligned with national and inter‑agency standards.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen WFP’s protection portfolio, including inter‑agency coordination and linking the Complaint Feedback Mechanism (CFM) with government and partner systems.
• Document, analyse and follow up on risks identified during emergency response and programme implementation.
• Support the development and implementation of protection policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures.
• Provide technical advice to field teams on protection and risk‑management issues.
• Contribute to reporting on protection outcomes and risk mitigation actions for senior management.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, humanitarian affairs, law, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in protection, risk management or humanitarian programme policy, preferably within UN or NGO settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
