QA Software Engineer (Insurance)

About the role

A remote Software Quality Assurance Engineer (Insurance) is sought to ensure the quality, reliability and performance of software applications through thorough testing. The role works with Business Analysts, developers, software vendors and project teams to find defects, write test cases and make sure software is deployed to production without defects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform functional, application and regression tests
• Ensure software deployed to production is defect-free
• Review functional and non-functional requirements and build test cases for end-to-end functionality
• Build regression test cases for automation
• Identify issues, risks and dependencies and escalate them when appropriate
• Work with Business Analysts and the software vendor to understand requirements and develop test cases
• Create end-to-end test plans and scripts covering functionality, performance, reliability, stability and compatibility with other systems
• Plan and monitor test case execution, report, triage and track defects, and route them to the right person

Required profile

• 5+ years of QA testing experience
• Good understanding of property and casualty insurance solutions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with bi-weekly releases
• Strong attention to detail and very strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently while keeping teammates informed
• Initiative, ambition, creativity and a goal-oriented, can-do attitude
• Willingness to learn new technologies quickly

Required skills

• Knowledge of QA processes and the SDLC
• Understanding of the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC)
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially SharePoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
