Senior Backend Architect (AI-first)

About the role

We are seeking a highly senior backend engineer to lead architecture and delivery of AI‑first backend services. This is a high‑ownership, remote position where you will turn ambiguous product ideas into production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own backend services using NestJS and TypeScript, from schema definition to production deployment.
• Make independent architecture decisions focused on scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Build and maintain GraphQL APIs across a micro‑services environment.
• Own database design, optimization, and reliability for PostgreSQL.
• Define technical direction, set quality standards, and enforce them for both AI‑generated and manually written code.
• Translate vague product requirements into clear technical specifications.
• Contribute to system design, infrastructure choices, testing strategy, and developer productivity.
• Operate in an AI‑first workflow, leveraging AI agents for research, planning, implementation, testing, and refinement while maintaining engineering rigor.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Lead Engineer or Architect level in previous roles.
• Ability to make architecture decisions independently and drive long‑term scalability.
• Comfort with fast‑paced environments and high accountability.
• Strong judgment around correctness, security, performance, and reliability.
