Senior Java Technical Lead - Fintech Microservices

About the role

A leading fintech platform is looking for a Senior Java Technical Lead to head its Java development teams and drive technical architecture and design. The role ensures the delivery of secure, scalable, high-performance microservices-based applications serving payments, banking, lending or digital wallet products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Java microservices for fintech products.
• Define architecture, coding standards and best practices; run design and code reviews.
• Translate business requirements with the Product Owner into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers and improve the quality of the team's output.
• Design and review REST and SOAP APIs, event-driven integrations and third-party connections.
• Ensure systems meet security and compliance needs such as PCI DSS, PSD2, KYC/AML and GDPR.
• Improve performance, resilience and observability across services.
• Work with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, containerization and releases.
• Take part in sprint planning, estimation and delivery tracking in Scrum.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production issues.
• Assess technical risks and debt and raise them early with stakeholders.

Required profile

• 8 to 12 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a lead role.
• At least 3 years in fintech, banking or payments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Strong Java (Java 11 or higher) and Spring Boot (mandatory).
• Proven delivery of microservices architectures in production (mandatory).
• REST and SOAP APIs, JSON, XML and OpenAPI.
• Kafka or RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL and at least one NoSQL store.
• Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Git, Jira, Agile or Scrum.
• Design patterns, domain-driven design, OAuth2/JWT, saga, circuit breaker and idempotency.
