Senior Legal Research Specialist (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Research Specialist to work remotely on a contractual basis. The role focuses on deep legal research, analysis of case law, statutes, and regulatory frameworks, and delivering actionable insights that guide high‑stakes legal and business decisions, especially in AI and technology contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive legal research using primary and secondary sources, including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal treatises.
• Analyze complex legal issues and produce written summaries, memos, and recommendations for policy, product development, and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other legal professionals to embed legal insights into technical and business processes.
• Assess legal implications of emerging technologies, algorithms, and data‑processing practices to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of developments in AI governance, data privacy, intellectual property, and sector‑specific regulations.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience in legal research, preferably within technology, AI, or a fast‑growing commercial sector.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret and synthesize complex legal and technical documents.
• Experience researching AI‑related legal issues such as algorithmic accountability, bias, transparency, or regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with legal research databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law).
• Familiarity with AI tools or platforms used to assist in legal analysis.
