Senior QA Engineer (Test Automation & Release Assurance)

About the role

Mahaana is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to take ownership of software quality and release assurance. In its AI-assisted development process, code is produced faster, so independent and rigorous verification is more important. You will confirm that software meets approved requirements and is safe to release, designing and executing testing strategies, building and maintaining automated test suites and using AI tools to improve coverage and speed up feedback. You will work closely with the Technical Business Analyst, engineers and designers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the test strategy across functional, regression, integration, API, performance and security testing.
• Derive test scenarios from requirements and acceptance criteria, keeping traceability to every requirement.
• Build and maintain automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Use AI tools to generate test cases, test data and automation scripts, then review and validate their output.
• Test in staging with anonymized, realistic data, covering edge cases, error handling and non-functional behaviour.
• Report reproducible defects, collaborate with engineers on fixes and verify them.
• Review requirements for ambiguity and untestable scenarios, and review unit and integration tests produced by engineers and AI tools.
• Provide quality sign-off and release recommendations backed by testing evidence, and mentor team members on testing and the safe use of AI tools.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software QA experience, with substantial test automation experience.
• Strong analytical skills and clear written and verbal communication, including defect reporting.
• Experience in Agile teams and with project management tools such as Jira.
• Interest in AI tools for testing and sound judgment in reviewing their output.

Required skills

• Automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, REST Assured or Postman.
• At least one programming or scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript or Java.
• API and backend testing, with working knowledge of SQL for data validation.
• CI/CD integration with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Preferred: performance/load testing tools (k6, JMeter, Locust), OWASP Top 10 and accessibility basics, mobile testing, test data management, BDD (Gherkin, Cucumber), and regulated industry experience.
