About the role

Careem is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a talented group of engineers and recent graduates within its NextGen Programme. You will shape their technical growth, mentor them on real‑world projects, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality, scalable services that power core business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers in the NextGen Programme, driving high‑quality service delivery and strong engineering foundations.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable distributed systems using a microservices‑based architecture.
• Mentor engineers in Clean Code, SOLID principles, and test‑driven development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve technical challenges and improve engineering efficiency.
• Partner with senior leaders to shape the technical roadmap and evolve the programme structure.
• Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and engineering excellence.
• Provide regular feedback, coaching, and support to maintain high team engagement.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a management or senior engineering lead role.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Proven experience building and scaling distributed systems and microservices.
