Software Engineering Manager

About the role

JiBe is a cloud-based fully integrated ERP system for the shipping industry, designed to help shipping companies improve productivity, efficiency and safety while reducing costs. As Software Engineering Manager, you will act as a team and tech lead for six team members, balancing hands-on coding with leading the team and the product.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design efforts together with tech leads and architects, and recruit and build a self-organizing agile team.
• Implement career development and personal growth plans, and raise technical proficiency and soft skills.
• Manage the development lifecycle, day-to-day activities, product quality and the production environment.
• Improve development methodologies, tools and processes.
• Spend 50% of your time on team management and growth, and 50% on hands-on coding and code reviews.
• Collaborate with other engineering managers, product and support colleagues, and maintain high development, quality and delivery standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of software development experience.
• Minimum 4 years of development and code-level design experience with Node.js, Java or C#.
• At least 2 years working with relational databases.
• Managed teams for at least 3 consecutive years with a minimum of 5 team members.
• Willingness to gradually become full stack while keeping a focus on backend development.

Required skills

• Practical experience with development quality methodologies and testing.
• Familiarity with OOP, design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Advantageous: NoSQL databases, AWS, Windows and Linux as production environments, agile methodologies, performance optimization, application security, data streaming, and experience with international technical colleagues.
