Network and System Support Specialist

About the role

A. F. Ferguson & Co. Chartered Accountants, a member firm of the PwC network, is hiring a Network and System Support Engineer for its IT team in Karachi. The role sits in Internal Firm Services and supports core business functions by deploying and managing applications that help staff work more efficiently and serve clients better. Candidates are sought for Level 1 and Level 2 support positions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN, routers, switches and wireless networks.
• Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity problems for end users.
• Help with network configuration, upgrades and patch management.
• Take part in network incident response and provide on-call support.
• Assist in capacity planning and recommend upgrades to improve performance and scalability.
• Prepare documentation, identify gaps and implement corrective actions so the network meets annual audit requirements.
• Manage access controls, monitor vulnerabilities and maintain secure network configurations.
• Work with other IT teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with vendors on service requests, repairs and replacements, negotiate turnaround times and resolution targets per SLA, and manage escalations and outage updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent IT qualification.
• At least 1.5 years of experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, and good written and communication skills for working with global teams.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with networking devices such as Cisco, Juniper or similar vendors.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN and network security concepts.
• Preferred: CCNA certification.
