Trade Compliance & Customs Specialist / Senior Specialist

About the role

This role covers customs clearance and trade compliance across international markets, including the USA, Canada, UK and Europe. It involves liaising with customs authorities, brokers, freight forwarders and shipping lines, classifying goods and keeping shipments on track.

Key responsibilities

• Manage customs clearance activities across international markets, including the USA, Canada, UK and Europe
• Liaise with customs authorities, customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines and destination agents
• Ensure accurate HS code classification and compliance with customs regulations, import/export requirements and international trade policies
• Review shipping documents such as commercial invoices and packing lists, and maintain shipment records and tracking information
• Monitor shipment progress, identify potential delays, resolve customs clearance issues and coordinate with stakeholders for timely delivery
• Collaborate with product, production, finance, supply chain and trucking teams
• Stay informed on changes to customs regulations, tariffs, duties and trade requirements
• Identify improvements to customs clearance procedures, documentation accuracy and shipment visibility

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration or a related field
• Relevant experience in customs clearance, international logistics, freight forwarding or trade compliance
• Experience coordinating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines and destination agents
• Knowledge of customs requirements in the USA, Canada, UK and European markets

Required skills

• Strong understanding of HS code classification, customs documentation, import/export procedures and international shipping regulations
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and shipment tracking or logistics management systems
