UK Accountant - Bookkeeping, VAT Returns & Tax Compliance (Remote)

About the role

Recruit AI is seeking a UK Accountant to work remotely on bookkeeping, VAT returns and tax compliance. The role suits someone with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping, VAT returns, year-end accounts and corporation tax, who can maintain precise financial records, prepare accounts and manage UK tax filings independently. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM UK time, and the target salary is up to PKR 70,000 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and reconcile bank statements regularly.
• Prepare and submit UK VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations within deadlines.
• Compile year-end accounts, including financial statements and reports, under UK accounting standards.
• Calculate corporation tax liabilities and prepare the corresponding computations.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of statutory accounts with Companies House.
• Communicate with HMRC to resolve tax queries and ensure compliance.
• Use Excel to manage financial data, perform calculations and generate reports.
• Use accounting software such as VT Final Accounts or Capium for bookkeeping, accounts preparation and tax filing.
• Keep up to date with changes in UK tax law and accounting practice.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping, VAT returns, year-end accounts and corporation tax.
• Prior experience in a UK-based accounting firm or company.
• Strong understanding of UK accounting procedures and compliance requirements.
• Attention to detail and good English communication skills for handling statutory filings and tax correspondence.
