Visual Journalist (Karachi) - 2-Year Contract

About the role

CNA Digital is hiring a visual journalist to be based in Karachi, working with its correspondents across Pakistan including the city. The role covers photography and videography when correspondents are in the field, on a 2-year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Work with correspondents during assignments to produce photos and/or videos that tell the story
• Support correspondents in filming pieces to camera, including setup, lighting and audio
• Edit images and produce clear, engaging videos for digital and social media platforms, in collaboration with a visuals editorial team based in Singapore
• Follow social media trends and create visual content optimised for different platforms
• Carry out occasional independent reporting as required

Required profile

• At least five years of experience in visual journalism
• Proven ability to operate professional cameras for photography and videography
• Experience filming and publishing with mobile devices
• Strong video editing skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
• Ability to operate a drone is an advantage; familiarity with business and tech issues and a contact network in those sectors is a plus
• Proficiency in English and local languages such as Urdu
