Volunteer - Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centre

About the role

Sun Shine Rehabilitation Welfare Center, a non-profit in Karachi founded in 2020, supports people recovering from drug addiction through medical treatment, counseling, vocational training and community reintegration. It is looking for a part-time, hybrid volunteer who works partly on site at the center and partly from home.

Key responsibilities

• Help facilitate group sessions, recreational activities and educational workshops under staff supervision
• Support vocational training programs, organize materials and help with basic documentation
• Contribute to awareness or outreach efforts
• Assist with simple administrative tasks, coordinate schedules and help maintain a welcoming environment for patients and visitors

Required profile

• Ability to show empathy, patience and respect when working with people recovering from addiction
• Interest in mental health, rehabilitation or social work; prior volunteer or community service experience is an advantage
• Reliability and commitment to agreed schedules, able to work on site in Karachi and from home as needed
• Alignment with the center's mission and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Organizational skills for record-keeping and coordination of sessions or events
• Basic computer skills for simple documentation and online communication
• Fluency in local languages and English is beneficial
