Accounting Subject Matter Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for an Accounting Subject Matter Expert to work remotely on an hourly contractor basis. You will evaluate AI‑generated accounting responses, create gold‑standard accounting content and provide detailed feedback to improve model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed prompts and gold‑standard outputs such as journal entries, explanations, close checklists and reconciliation logic.
• Evaluate, rank and annotate AI responses for accuracy, clarity, completeness and compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
• Identify and document errors in bookkeeping logic, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and financial‑statement presentation.
• Fact‑check technical accounting claims and write high‑quality model solutions.
• Test AI outputs for unsafe assumptions, bias and reliability across business scenarios.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA/ACCA/CMA a strong plus.
• 5+ years of professional accounting experience in public accounting, industry or advisory.
• Deep knowledge of revenue/expense recognition, accruals, fixed assets, inventory, payroll basics and tax awareness.
• Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations and month‑end close deliverables.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and internal‑control concepts.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency and ability to write clear, structured explanations.
