Apprentice Shared Services – Finance & Accounting

About the role

This apprenticeship provides aspiring Chartered Accountants with structured, hands‑on training in finance and accounting operations at Descon Engineering Limited, an ICAP‑registered training organization.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports and periodic financial summaries.
• Perform general‑ledger reconciliations and support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Support budgeting, cost analysis, financial planning and variance analysis.
• Assist with taxation, statutory compliance and audit activities, preparing supporting documentation.
• Review financial transactions to ensure compliance with policies, internal controls and accounting standards.
• Leverage AI tools, automation, ERP systems and MS Excel to streamline analysis and reporting.

Required profile

• Fundamental knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
• Analytical, detail‑oriented and strong communication skills.
• Team player with learning agility and a continuous‑improvement mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Basic understanding of AI/automation tools for finance processes.
