Assistant Manager Accounting

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Accounting will deliver high‑quality accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily in the financial services sector. You will prepare and review statutory and management reports, oversee junior team members, and apply strong technical accounting knowledge under IFRS and UK GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ad‑hoc financial analysis, cash‑flow forecasts, budgets and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review annual and interim financial statements in accordance with IFRS, UK GAAP and other relevant standards.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts in agreed client formats and within reporting timelines.
• Provide board and committee reporting packs as required.
• Review and quality‑assure work prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Draft technical accounting papers on treatments, judgments and new standards.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in general accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Experience supporting month‑end and period‑end close processes.
• Prior experience in professional services, audit or accounting advisory, preferably within financial services.
• Qualified or pursuing qualification with a recognised accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CA, ICAEW).
• Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office 365.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero or SAP.
