Backend Python Django Developer

About the role

Silicon Nexus is a technology company delivering end-to-end solutions in embedded systems, blockchain, AI/ML and web and mobile application development. It is looking for a Python Django Developer to join its backend engineering team, designing, implementing and maintaining scalable web applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable web applications with Django and Django REST Framework
• Architect and optimise RESTful APIs for frontend and third-party integrations
• Work with frontend engineers to deliver seamless, user-friendly applications
• Write clean, reusable, testable code following best practices and design patterns
• Ensure performance, scalability and security across the stack, including mitigation of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities
• Conduct peer code reviews, give feedback and mentor junior developers
• Troubleshoot and debug existing systems with minimal downtime
• Take part in the full SDLC: coding, testing, deployment and automation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 2-3 years of hands-on experience building production-grade applications with Python and Django/DRF
• Strong knowledge of Django fundamentals: ORM, views, templates, forms and authentication
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Strong problem-solving, debugging and analytical skills, plus good communication and teamwork

Required skills

• Relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including complex queries and optimisation
• HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (ES6+)
• Git and version control
• Nice to have: AWS, GCP or Azure; Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration; CI/CD pipelines and pytest or Selenium; Celery with Redis or RabbitMQ; Agile/Scrum
