Chemical Manager - Finished Goods QC

About the role

Abbott is hiring a Chemical Manager in Karachi to lead, manage and monitor the Finished Goods section and to oversee EHS and quality compliance of the laboratory. The role sits in the Operations Quality family of the EPD Established Pharma division.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor timely release of finished goods and prevent stockouts caused by QC delays (monthly)
• Qualify new instruments, lead troubleshooting and engage OEMs for complex issues, keeping service contracts and spares
• Define roles, workloads and cross-coverage, maintain a skills matrix and cascade departmental goals into SMART goals
• Run tier meetings (daily, weekly, monthly), coach on data integrity, OOS/OOT, safety and problem solving, and enforce ALCOA+ principles
• Review and approve SOPs, STMs, specifications and logbooks, ensure validated computerised systems and controlled access
• Conduct internal audits, close CAPAs on time and keep audit observations at zero critical and minimal major
• Support process validation analytics, CSV/GxP system validation with QA/IT, and OOS/LIR investigations
• Represent QC in cross-functional forums, Quality Council and Change Review Board, and handle urgent documents, crises and recalls within delegated authority
• Track EHS goals, run chemical risk assessments, waste segregation and disposal, report near misses and aim for zero lost-time incidents

Required profile

• M.Sc. in Chemistry or Pharm.D.
• 8-10 years of experience in the same capacity
• Knowledge of QC/QA requirements, including annual product quality review
