Chemist (Contractual Role)

About the role

The Chemist will lead quality testing of petroleum products at Pak-Arab Refinery Limited, ensuring compliance with MEPD specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Test HSD, MOGAS and Transmix samples and issue Quality Test Reports.
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain high‑precision lab equipment such as CFR Engine, AAS, FTIR spectrometers and automated flash‑point/viscosity analyzers.
• Liaise with S&T Operations for timely product receipt and delivery testing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment through preventive maintenance, calibration and verification.
• Manage inventory of supplies, chemicals and auxiliaries via SAP PR/SR processes.
• Coordinate equipment installation and repairs with vendors.
• Ensure compliance with standard test methods, Lab SOPs, GLP, QMS and ISO/IEC 17025.
• Record test results in SAP QM Module and maintain precursor chemical records per ANF requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from an HEC‑approved university.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in an oil testing laboratory.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ASTM, UOP and IP test methods.
• Hands‑on expertise with CFR Engine, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, FTIR, flash‑point and viscosity analyzers.
• Use of SAP QM Module for laboratory activities.
• Practical application of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Quality Management Systems (QMS) and basic ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
• Implementation of safety protocols for hazardous petroleum products in line with NFPA codes.
