Chief Technology Officer / Lead AI Engineer

About the role

A new AI recruitment technology company, spun off from an established recruitment group and focused on the US legal and accounting markets, is hiring a hands-on technical leader. The role builds the platform, launches a working version within two months and leads ongoing development. It is remote, based in India or Pakistan, with a full-time commitment of 50 hours per week and daily overlap with UK working hours.

Key responsibilities

• Work directly with the founder and lead one or two developers, writing substantial production code yourself.
• Own product architecture, database design, technical roadmap and deployment, monitoring, security and reliability.
• Ship a live pilot in the first two months: registration, AI voice or chat interview, matching and a structured candidate profile.
• Integrate AI voice and chat, process CVs and extract structured data, and connect email, calendar and other APIs.
• Review and direct the code of one or two developers and provide clear documentation.

Required profile

• A product you personally helped build from concept to production.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills and sound database design.
• Practical experience shipping AI applications used by real people, with experience reviewing and maintaining AI-generated code.
• Experience with APIs, background jobs and reliable automated workflows; ability to judge AI output quality and recover from failures.
• Strong English and ownership: identifying problems, recommending solutions and following through.
• Recruitment industry experience is preferred, as is voice AI and marketplace experience; previous CTO experience is welcome.

Required skills

• Python and/or TypeScript, modern frontend development and relational databases.
• Strong practical experience with Claude and Claude Code.
• Cloud deployment and API integrations.

• Compensation of up to US$4,000 per month, depending on demonstrated capability.
