Compliance Manager – Authorised Payment Institution

About the role

You will be the operational backbone of the compliance function for an FCA‑authorised payment institution. Working directly with the CEO, you will own day‑to‑day compliance operations across regulated activities and help shape the function as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the compliance monitoring plan, execute periodic reviews and report findings to senior management.
• Prepare and submit regulatory returns (REP017, REP018, annual returns) accurately and on time.
• Support the MLRO in AML/CTF framework, including risk assessments, KYC/KYB standards, transaction monitoring and SAR procedures.
• Own the policy suite – draft, review and maintain compliance policies with version control.
• Deliver compliance and financial‑crime training to staff and keep training records.
• Conduct compliance due‑diligence on partners, agents and third‑party providers and manage outsourcing oversight.

Required profile

• 2+ years of compliance experience within a regulated payments or e‑money firm.
• Working knowledge of PSRs 2017, EMRs 2011, FCA Handbook (SUP, SYSC, DISP) and Payment Services/E‑Money regulations.
• Hands‑on experience with AML/CTF frameworks under the MLRs 2017, including KYB/KYC, transaction monitoring and SARs.
• Ability to work autonomously and draft clear regulatory correspondence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Payment Services Regulations 2017 and related FCA Handbook sections.
• Experience preparing regulatory returns and managing AML/CTF processes.
