Consultant – Social Enterprise Development and Community Engagement

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a consultant to design and deliver a youth‑focused social enterprise and community‑engagement programme at FATA University and Kohat University in Pakistan. The role is home‑based with occasional travel to the university sites.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare an inception workplan covering methodology, delivery plan, mentoring approach, timelines and expected outputs for both universities.
  • Conduct a rapid review of university context, student cohort profiles and local community needs related to youth leadership, livelihoods and social enterprise.
  • Review, adapt and develop training modules, facilitator notes, participant handouts, exercises, mentoring tools and assessment formats covering social enterprise, problem identification, design thinking, digital tools, gender equality, safeguarding and PVE/CVE concepts.
  • Deliver structured training sessions and practical learning exercises for selected student cohorts.
  • Facilitate interactive activities such as case studies, group work, leadership simulations, peer learning, community challenge assignments and pitch clinics.
  • Provide mentoring support to student teams developing youth‑led initiatives and social‑enterprise concepts.
  • Document attendance, assessments, feedback, mentoring records and student outputs; produce a final consultancy report with results, lessons learned and sustainability recommendations.

Required profile

  • Relevant academic background (e.g., development studies, social entrepreneurship, education).
  • Proven experience designing and delivering training programmes for youth in higher‑education settings.
  • Experience in community engagement, social‑enterprise development and mentoring of student teams.
  • Ability to work independently, travel locally and coordinate with UNODC programme staff.
