Data Governance Lead

About the role

This is a remote Data Governance Lead position requiring 8+ years of experience. The role defines and runs the data governance and data management framework, moving the organization toward a federated, domain-oriented data mesh with trusted, discoverable data products. The client platform is based on Microsoft Azure and Fabric, with Microsoft Purview for governance.

Key responsibilities

• Design governance policies, standards and roles (data owners, stewards, governance council)
• Operationalize the data mesh: domain boundaries, data product standards, data contracts and federated governance
• Implement and drive adoption of the data catalog (Microsoft Purview preferred): glossary, ownership, lineage and classification
• Lead domain modeling (conceptual and logical, aligned with domain-driven design)
• Design dimensional models: star schemas, conformed dimensions and slowly changing dimensions
• Define data quality rules and KPIs, and the master and reference data approach
• Run maturity assessments and workshops, and coach data owners and stewards

Required profile

• 8+ years in data management, including hands-on governance programs and enterprise data models
• Strong knowledge of data mesh and federated governance
• Hands-on experience with an enterprise catalog (Purview, Collibra, Alation or Informatica)
• Nice to have: DAMA CDMP or DCAM certification, logistics, ports or supply chain experience, familiarity with NDMO standards and PDPL, and Arabic

Required skills

• Dimensional and domain modeling with tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio or SqlDBM
• Working knowledge of cloud data platforms (Fabric, Synapse, Databricks or Snowflake) and the medallion architecture
• Strong SQL and stakeholder communication skills in English
