Deputy Manager – Income and Sales Taxes

About the role

The Deputy Manager – Income and Sales Taxes will support the implementation of PARCO Pearl Gas’s tax strategy and ensure full compliance with federal and provincial tax laws in Pakistan. Reporting to the CFO, the role oversees tax advisory, compliance, reporting, assessments, litigation and planning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Review tax advice for local and foreign procurement of goods and services.
• Analyse tax clauses in tender documents, contracts and commercial agreements.
• Assess sales‑tax applicability, exemptions and input‑tax claims for projects.
• Plan and manage tax assessments, audits, appeals and litigation to minimise exposure.
• Maintain and update the tax litigation register with hearing dates and deadlines.
• Prepare and review responses, calculations and supporting documents for tax authority notices.
• Attend hearings before tax authorities, appellate forums and courts with consultants and legal advisers.
• Oversee weekly withholding‑tax payments and ensure timely compliance.
• Validate monthly sales‑tax calculations, payments, reconciliations and returns.
• Supervise monthly stamp‑duty calculations, challans and accounting entries.
• Handle quarterly advance income‑tax calculations, approvals and submissions to the Federal Board of Revenue.
• Review annual income‑tax computations, ensuring proper claim of credits and refunds.
• Prepare tax‑charge calculations and disclosures for audited financial statements.
• Supervise and review work performed by tax accountants.

Required profile

• Minimum eight years of post‑qualification experience, with at least five years of hands‑on taxation.
• Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, CMA or AMBA preferred.
• Extensive experience in income tax, sales tax, tax compliance, assessments and litigation within Pakistan.
• Background in a large corporate environment.
