Director, Software Engineering

About the role

CareCloud, a healthcare technology company, is looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Director – Software Engineering to lead software engineering teams, oversee development initiatives and deliver scalable, reliable, high-quality software. The role combines strong software engineering expertise with team leadership, project execution and technical decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop software engineers and technical team leads, manage performance, workload and professional development, and conduct performance reviews.
• Oversee the software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture to testing, deployment and maintenance, and review designs and code quality.
• Guide technical decisions on architecture, frameworks, databases, APIs and integrations, and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks and security issues.
• Turn business requirements into technical plans and roadmaps, coordinate with Product Management, QA and DevOps, and set up Agile/Scrum practices, sprint planning and release management.
• Improve engineering productivity through CI/CD, automated testing, version control and modern deployment practices, and evaluate new technologies.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate risks and progress, and support strategic technology initiatives and engineering roadmaps.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field; graduates of NUST and FAST-NUCES preferred.
• 8-10 years of overall software development and engineering experience.
• At least 3-4 years in team leadership, technical leadership or engineering management, leading teams and delivering complex projects.
• Experience in technical planning, system design, code quality management and production support.

• Software architecture, object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
• Modern backend and frontend technologies, frameworks and APIs.
• Relational and NoSQL databases, integrations, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, automated testing and DevOps.
• Application security, performance optimization, scalability and reliability.
• Agile/Scrum, version control and project management tools.
