Electrical Estimator

About the role

The Electrical Estimator reviews project drawings, shop drawings, specifications and tender documents to provide accurate cost estimates for electrical systems. The role covers preparing detailed quotes, liaising with suppliers and ensuring compliance with local laws and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications and tender documents; identify LV, MV and ELV electrical components and systems.
• Interpret, prepare and review shop drawings after the project is awarded, and review buy-out submittals and create a submittal log.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, equipment, taxes and other expenses within budget constraints.
• Perform quantity take-offs for lighting, switches, receptacles, panel breakers, fire alarms, CCTV, circuits and conduits.
• Liaise with suppliers and vendors for quotations, negotiate pricing and assist in preparing technical and commercial bids.
• Manage change orders and plan alterations, adjusting bids and estimates accordingly.
• Take part in pre-bid meetings and provide technical clarification.
• Ensure all electrical systems and designs comply with local and national codes and standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical estimator or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and American electrical standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL listing).
• Excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plan Swift, Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel for estimating and project management.
• Knowledge of American wiring systems and components.
