Field Engineer Internship

About the role

GE Vernova's Gas Power business, through its FieldCore team, installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment. The Field Intern learns the fundamentals of FieldCore Turbine and Generator products under the guidance of experienced Field supervisors, engineers and TFAs, and assists with engineering projects of varying size and scope under direct supervision. After completing health and safety training, the intern visits sites.

Key responsibilities

• Complete the required environment, health and safety training before visiting sites.
• Learn the use of FieldCore web-based applications and develop basic technical skills for site work.
• Learn project management, scheduling, resource loading and cost control to support the Field Team during major overhauls.
• Help the Service Manager and Field Engineers plan jobs, expedite shop repairs and facilitate parts orders for outages.
• Support research and simplification projects and provide remote and on-site support to the FieldCore team.
• Provide general tech/admin assistance to the Ops team and receive customer calls.
• Expedite short-notice purchasing and shipping for overhaul jobs and organize activities and logistics.
• Work holidays, weekends and overtime as required; travel may be required.

Required profile

• Student in a major of Engineering (Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Software, Systems).
• Open to current students who will return to in-class studies after the work term.
• Desired: strong communication, planning, technical and people skills; commitment to environmental health and safety; teamwork, creativity, innovation, self-motivation.
