General Manager – Commercial (Retail & Grocery)

About the role

The company is a leading modern retail and grocery business in Pakistan seeking a General Manager – Commercial to drive topline growth, customer value and margin expansion. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the commercial function across buying, category management, pricing, supplier partnerships and commercial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business targets into annual commercial and category plans and build growth roadmaps.
• Lead buying and category management, own assortment architecture, range productivity and mix optimization.
• Set buying and selling price decisions, manage front and back margin, and ensure disciplined pricing governance.
• Negotiate annual commercial agreements with key suppliers and develop strategic partnerships.
• Own the commercial calendar, promotional planning and trading rhythm, improving promotion effectiveness through data‑driven insights.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Supply Chain and Finance to enhance execution and customer experience.

Required profile

• 10–15+ years of commercial leadership experience in grocery retail, FMCG or modern trade.
• Proven track record of delivering sales growth, customer satisfaction and margin improvement.
• Strong commercial acumen with a customer‑first mindset.
• Hands‑on operator with strong analytical and execution capabilities.
• Effective leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
