Head of Supply Chain – Manufacturing, Govt & Defence Projects

About the role

An engineering and manufacturing organisation involved in government and defence-related projects is looking for an experienced Head of Supply Chain based in Landhi, Karachi. The role leads end-to-end supply chain, procurement, sourcing, vendor management and materials planning operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead supply chain strategy, procurement, sourcing, inventory control and materials planning.
• Manage procurement of engineering components, machinery, equipment and manufacturing materials.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers, contractors and vendors.
• Oversee tender documentation, quotations, supplier evaluations, contract negotiations and purchase orders.
• Ensure materials arrive on time to meet production schedules and project delivery deadlines.
• Manage supplier performance, cost optimisation, quality standards and procurement risks.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Finance and Project Management teams.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contractual requirements and project procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels, working capital, delivery schedules and supply chain KPIs.
• Lead and develop the supply chain and procurement team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field; a master's degree or professional certification is an advantage.
• 10-15 years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement or materials management, preferably in engineering or manufacturing.
• Previous experience with government, defence or strategic engineering projects is highly preferred.
• Experience with government departments, defence organisations or public-sector projects is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment in Landhi, Karachi.
