Integration Engineer (Contractor)

About the role

UmerCo, a solutions provider in managed file transfer and integration and an IBM Business Partner, is hiring a full-time, on-site mid-level Integration Engineer contractor for its Lahore office. The engineer designs, builds and maintains integrations between IBM integration products, the company's customer-facing web portal and client business systems, working directly with US-based client stakeholders. Training on IBM products is provided, but solid integration and software fundamentals are expected.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain integrations between IBM products, the web portal and client systems
• Build and consume REST APIs and data flows, with mappings, transformations and validations across JSON, XML, CSV and flat files
• Configure and support secure file transfer flows (SFTP, FTPS, AS2, HTTPS), partner onboarding and routing
• Capture client requirements and turn them into technical designs
• Support and extend the web portal (back-end services, database, front-end fixes)
• Troubleshoot production issues across application, database and network layers, with root-cause analysis and documented fixes
• Write unit and integration tests and deploy through dev, test and production under change-management and security standards
• Build AI-driven automation (LLM APIs, agents, scripted workflows) for monitoring, onboarding and support
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and handover notes, and join the support rotation during US business hours

Required profile

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on software development or integration experience
• Solid understanding of integrations: APIs, data flows, messaging, batch and file-based exchange
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs (authentication, error handling, versioning)
• Strong knowledge of JSON, XML and CSV and their mapping and transformation
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar)
• Linux comfort: shell scripting, file permissions, log analysis, basic networking
• Git, basic CI/CD, testing and deployment practices, and basic web app development
• Interest in or experience with LLM APIs, AI agents or agentic workflows
• Data security basics: encryption in transit and at rest, keys and certificates, access control
• Clear written and spoken English, able to communicate with US-based clients
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

• IBM integration products (Sterling B2B Integrator, File Gateway, App Connect, webMethods) or Boomi, MuleSoft, GoAnywhere MFT, Axway, SPS Commerce
• MFT concepts: partner onboarding, PGP encryption, SFTP/AS2, mailbox routing
• EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT) and XSLT
• AWS, Azure or IBM Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring tools (New Relic, Grafana, ELK)
• Consulting or client-services experience
