The role delivers high-quality, technology-enabled audits in line with PwC methodology, professional standards and Pakistan's legal and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage audit engagements from planning through completion, including scoping, risk assessment, audit strategy, work programmes, execution, review and reporting.
  • Understand each client's business model, products, systems, governance, regulatory environment and key financial-reporting risks.
  • Assess significant risks, material estimates and judgments, including expected credit losses, impairment, fair values, insurance contract liabilities, provisions, investments, revenue recognition and regulatory capital or solvency matters.
  • Apply International Standards on Auditing, IFRS, PwC methodology and requirements of ICAP, SBP, SECP, AOB and other regulators.
  • Lead and review testing of business processes, internal controls and automated controls, coordinating with IT, actuarial, valuation, tax and other specialists.
  • Ensure audit documentation is complete, accurate and timely, and manage engagement economics, staffing, budgets, milestones, billing and recovery.
  • Act as principal day-to-day contact for the client, prepare communications to management, audit committees, boards, group auditors and regulators, and coach and supervise assistant managers, senior associates and associates.
  • Support proposals, client presentations, industry initiatives and training while observing independence and ethical requirements.

Required profile

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
  • Minimum three years of post-qualification experience, substantially in external audit and assurance.
  • Experience auditing financial services entities; exposure to banking, insurance, asset management or capital markets is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage concurrent engagements and meet demanding statutory and internal deadlines.

Required skills

  • IFRS Accounting Standards and ISAs, with practical exposure to IFRS 9; IFRS 17 knowledge is desirable for insurance assignments.
  • Sound understanding of financial services regulations, corporate law, governance and financial-statement presentation in Pakistan.
  • Proficiency in audit technology, data analytics and Microsoft Office; experience with PwC audit tools is an advantage.
  • Strong engagement management, team leadership, coaching, client handling and communication skills.
