Manager, Tax & Compliance

About the role

A well-established organization in Karachi is looking for a Manager, Tax & Compliance to lead all direct and indirect tax matters. The role covers tax compliance, filings, assessments and audits, advises management on the tax impact of business decisions and changes in tax law, and leads the taxation team. Candidates must be based in Karachi or willing to relocate there.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all direct and indirect tax matters, including income tax, sales tax and withholding tax.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns and statements and timely payment of taxes.
• Manage tax assessments, audits, notices and appeals, and lead correspondence with the tax authorities.
• Review the tax implications of business transactions, contracts and agreements.
• Track changes in tax law and advise management on their impact.
• Develop tax planning strategies that reduce tax risks and liabilities.
• Work with external tax consultants, auditors and government authorities.
• Keep tax records, reconciliations and supporting documentation complete and audit-ready.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning on tax matters.
• Lead, mentor and develop the taxation team.

Required profile

• MBA (ACCA/ACAM preferred).
• 8 to 10 years of relevant taxation experience in Pakistan.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a taxation team.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to manage multiple deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Pakistan's direct and indirect tax laws, including income tax, sales tax and withholding tax.
• Hands-on experience handling tax assessments, audits, notices and appeals with the tax authorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
