Mechanical Design Engineer – Remote (Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work remotely on a contract basis. The role focuses on creating detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings for custom mechanical components, ensuring they meet production requirements and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical parts using FreeCAD.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and improve processes.
• Conduct design reviews and verify compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs and engineering change orders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical design and manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and ISO standards.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience with sheet metal, machining, and assembly processes.

Required skills

• FreeCAD for parametric modeling and drafting.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• ISO engineering standards.
• Sheet metal design.
• Machining processes.
• Assembly process knowledge.
