Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist (Remote)

About the role

We are a growing U.S.-based behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment organization seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team remotely. This position focuses on managing U.S. healthcare claims, interacting with insurance companies, handling denials, and overseeing the full revenue cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Submit and track medical claims accurately and on time.
• Review claims for errors before submission and work rejected or denied claims.
• Follow up on unpaid and underpaid claims and manage accounts receivable.
• Contact insurance companies regarding claim status and payment issues.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements.
• Track prior authorizations and ensure services are properly authorized.
• Review EOBs/ERAs, post insurance payments and adjustments, and correct underpayments.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on U.S. medical billing or revenue cycle management experience.
• Strong written and spoken English with ability to communicate directly with U.S. insurance companies.
• Ability to work independently while handling confidential patient information.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder, Medicaid, or commercial insurance billing is preferred.

Required skills

• U.S. medical billing and revenue cycle management.
• Claims submission, A/R follow‑up, denial management, appeals.
• Payment posting, insurance verification, prior authorizations, EOB/ERA review.
• Use of payer portals, CMS‑1500, 837P electronic claims.
• Knowledge of ICD‑10, CPT/HCPCS coding, HIPAA and U.S. healthcare privacy requirements.
