Medical Coding Specialist

About the role

The Medical Coding Specialist ensures accurate translation of clinical documentation into standardized codes for billing and reporting. This full‑time position works onsite and supports both clinical and billing teams while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review complete medical records and assign correct ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Apply appropriate modifiers to reflect service details and ensure proper reimbursement.
• Conduct chart audits, educate providers on documentation gaps, and resolve coding‑related claim denials.
• Stay current with AMA, CMS, and payer policy updates to maintain coding accuracy.
• Support offshore coding teams, act as supervisor backup, and provide operational solutions for complex coding issues.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience coding preventive care, procedures, behavioral health, and chronic care encounters.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and managed‑care payer‑specific rules.
• Ability to work remotely or onsite according to clinic policy and attend in‑person training as needed.
