Online IGCSE, AS Level & A Level Sociology Tutor

About the role

Tutoronics is an online tutoring platform connecting students with qualified tutors for personalised academic support. It is looking for knowledgeable Sociology tutors to teach students following international curricula, including IGCSE, AS Level and A Level. The work is part-time, freelance and remote, with on-rotation shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging online Sociology lessons covering socialisation, culture and identity, family, education, social inequality, crime and deviance, social stratification and research methods.
• Explain sociological theories, concepts, perspectives and research methods, including functionalism, Marxism, feminism and interactionism.
• Prepare lesson plans, revision notes, practice questions and past-paper exercises aligned with the exam board.
• Help students develop critical thinking, analytical writing, evaluation and essay-writing skills, and teach them how to apply concepts to exam questions.
• Assess progress, give constructive feedback and adapt teaching to individual needs.
• Teach via Google Meet, Zoom, digital whiteboards and screen-sharing tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of online tutoring experience.
• Strong subject knowledge in Sociology and familiarity with IGCSE, AS Level and/or A Level.
• Familiarity with Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel exam boards; a relevant degree in Sociology, Social Sciences or a related field is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills and strong understanding of exam techniques and essay structure.
• Reliable internet connection and a suitable environment for online teaching.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Meet, Zoom, digital whiteboards and screen sharing.
• Ability to explain sociological theories and research methods clearly.
