Operations Manager – Pharmaceutical Packaging

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead production, quality and continuous improvement across our plastics‑based pharmaceutical packaging lines in Karachi. Reporting to senior management, you will ensure safe, compliant and cost‑effective manufacturing that meets product specifications and delivery schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily production planning and execution for multiple packaging lines to meet targets and on‑time delivery.
• Manage production staff (supervisors, operators) including hiring support, training, performance management and shift coordination.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO and internal SOPs; work with QA on audits and CAPA activities.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen and OEE enhancements to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with engineering to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Engineering to optimise throughput while maintaining regulatory and safety standards.
• Prepare operational reports, manage budgets and contribute to capital project evaluations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in pharmaceutical packaging or related plastics production.
• Proven ability to lead production teams, schedule shifts and coach performance.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO standards and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical packaging.
• Hands‑on experience with continuous‑improvement tools (Kaizen, 5S, root‑cause analysis, basic Six Sigma).
• Familiarity with OEE, KPI tracking, production planning and ERP/MES systems.
• Experience driving CAPA and corrective actions in partnership with QA.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management across production, quality, procurement and senior management.
