People Operations Specialist

About the role

Motive is seeking a People Operations Specialist to join its People & Places team. In this senior position you will enhance the employee experience by driving operational excellence and strategic process improvements. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, partner with cross‑functional teams, and leverage technology to streamline HR workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and propose strategic improvements to HR processes, focusing on automation and efficiency.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert, resolving complex HR inquiries and escalations with cross‑functional partners.
• Support HR operations including new‑hire onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and assist in internal and external audits.
• Develop and maintain an HR Knowledge Base optimized for self‑service.
• Run regular compliance and audit reports, flagging errors or trends for proactive resolution.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years progressive experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or as an HR Generalist.
• Proven track record in process improvement, system implementation, or workflow automation.
• Experience with HRIS platforms, preferably Workday, including configuration, data audits, reporting, and troubleshooting.
• Proactive, problem‑solving mindset with a passion for technology, automation, and AI.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
