Psychologist

About the role

BrightSpyre is hiring a psychologist in Killasaifullah. The role provides individual and group psychotherapy and counselling for people facing emotional, behavioural or trauma-related difficulties, and works alongside protection teams and community mobilizers to deliver survivor-centred care. Candidates must be willing to work directly with clients who have moderate to severe mental health conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial and psychological assessments using validated screening tools.
• Provide one-on-one and group psychotherapy or counselling for anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD and adjustment disorders, using WHO-recommended interventions such as CBT, Problem Management Plus and Interpersonal Therapy.
• Deliver psychological first aid and immediate mental health support in crisis or post-violence situations (e.g. GBV, displacement trauma).
• Refer clients with severe mental illness or psychiatric emergencies to specialized services in coordination with medical staff and protection actors.
• Train LHVs and Community Mobilizers on basic psychological skills, communication and mental health promotion.
• Design and facilitate psychoeducation, stress management and group therapy sessions in Women Friendly Spaces and community outreach.
• Advocate for mental health de-stigmatization by engaging local influencers and faith leaders.
• Maintain accurate, confidential client records and treatment plans, and report progress, challenges and case outcomes to the supervisor.
• Submit weekly and monthly progress reports to the Project Manager and meet quarterly beneficiary targets.
• Take part in inter-agency mental health and protection coordination forums.

Required profile

• 2-3 years of preferably relevant experience.
• Willingness to work directly with clients with moderate to severe mental health conditions and to refer those with severe mental illness to specialized care.
• Adherence to confidentiality, informed consent, do-no-harm and non-discrimination principles.
