Remote Software Engineer (Rust)

About the role

Turing is seeking an experienced software engineer to help build and evaluate large‑language‑model (LLM) datasets focused on realistic software engineering tasks. You will work remotely, combining hands‑on coding with AI research to improve how LLMs interact with real code.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and triage GitHub issues from trending open‑source libraries.
• Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment provisioning.
• Evaluate unit‑test coverage and overall code quality.
• Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug‑fixing scenarios.
• Collaborate with researchers to select challenging repositories and issues for LLM evaluation.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on project tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of professional software engineering experience.
• Tech‑lead level competence with complex codebases.
• Strong experience in Rust development.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, and basic pipeline automation.
• Comfortable running, modifying, and testing real‑world projects locally.
• Experience contributing to or evaluating open‑source projects is a plus.
