Senior Backend Architect – Lead Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a highly senior backend engineer to lead architecture decisions and own end‑to‑end backend services. This is a high‑ownership, AI‑first position where you will translate ambiguous product needs into production‑ready solutions while maintaining rigorous standards for security, performance, and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own backend services using NestJS and TypeScript, from schema definition to production deployment.
• Make independent architecture decisions focused on scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Build and maintain GraphQL APIs across a micro‑services environment.
• Own database design, optimization, and reliability for PostgreSQL.
• Define technical direction, set quality standards, and enforce them for both AI‑generated and manually written code.
• Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear technical solutions.
• Contribute to system design, infrastructure choices, testing strategy, and developer productivity.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Lead Engineer or Architect role.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, high‑accountability environment.
• Strong judgment around architecture, correctness, security, performance, and reliability.
