Senior Buyer – Group Purchasing Program

About the role

The Senior Buyer will support the Group Purchasing Program for Aga Khan Development Network institutions in Pakistan. Working closely with the purchasing departments of each institution, you will ensure that procurement needs are fulfilled promptly, cost‑effectively, and in line with AKU’s standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor in meeting the procurement requirements of AKDN Pakistan institutions.
• Obtain, evaluate and compare supplier quotations, considering price, quality, delivery timelines and after‑sales service.
• Analyse annual spend data, conduct product‑mapping exercises and identify strategic suppliers for high‑value items.
• Facilitate resolution of supply‑chain challenges faced by network institutions.
• Conduct market surveys and intelligence studies to stay informed on trends and new products.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost‑effective pricing.
• Maintain strong working relationships and coordinate closely with all AKDN Pakistan institutions.
• Record inquiries from network institutions and prepare periodic reports for the Group Purchase Committee.
• Ensure compliance with institutional procurement policies.

Required profile

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple institutional purchasing teams.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating quotations and spend data.
• Experience in market research and supplier negotiation.
• Excellent communication and reporting capabilities.
• Commitment to adhering to AKU’s procurement policies and procedures.
