Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

About the role

Simplex builds the commerce platform behind some of the world's biggest restaurant brands, running websites, mobile apps, self-ordering kiosks, call-centre ordering, delivery and loyalty on AWS across the Middle East and Europe. It is looking for a senior DevOps Engineer to keep the platform fast, reliable and secure while it scales.

Key responsibilities

• Build and operate the AWS core (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, S3, VPC, CloudFront, Route 53, IAM) for scale, high availability and multi-region resilience.
• Containerise workloads with Docker and run them on ECS / EKS with clean, secure images.
• Own CI/CD in GitHub Actions, with SonarQube quality and security gates.
• Codify infrastructure as code (Terraform) and automate provisioning, scaling and backups with Bash and Python.
• Keep the platform observable and reliable (metrics, logs, traces, SLOs, on-call) and secure by default.
• Proactively hunt down cost, capacity and reliability risks and keep runbooks current.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud or SRE, deep in AWS core services.
• A proactive, not reactive mindset; a team player who documents, shares and lifts others up.
• Security awareness by habit: secure code, secure pipelines and secure infrastructure.

Required skills

• Docker and container orchestration (ECS / EKS / Kubernetes)
• GitHub Actions CI/CD with SonarQube quality and security gates
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CDK) and automation scripting (Bash, Python)

Bonus points

• AWS certification (DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect)
• Kubernetes (EKS) depth, observability tooling (Grafana/Prometheus, Datadog) and FinOps / cost-optimisation experience
• Exposure to regulated, audit-ready environments (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS)
