Senior Frontend Engineer - React/Next.js & AWS (Remote)

About the role

Smart Working connects skilled professionals with global teams for full-time, long-term remote roles. As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will build and enhance secure admin portals and dashboards using React, TypeScript and Next.js, while working with backend integrations and cloud technologies. You will join a small engineering team and take ownership of technical challenges, deployments and deployment practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure admin portals and dashboards with React, TypeScript and Next.js.
• Build native Next.js apps using App Router, server components, middleware and API routes.
• Maintain server-side authentication and support improvements to role-based access control (RBAC).
• Create and maintain automated frontend tests with Vitest, React Testing Library and Playwright.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and application deployments with GitHub Actions, Docker and AWS.
• Connect frontend apps with backend APIs and server-side API gateways.
• Resolve application, deployment and infrastructure issues independently and improve frontend performance and code quality.
• Contribute to technical discussions, review and validate AI-assisted code, and support product development.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience building frontend apps with React and TypeScript.
• Proven experience with admin portals and dashboards.
• Ability to manage frontend deployments and resolve production issues independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and confidence working independently in a small team.

Required skills

• In-depth experience with Next.js, including App Router, server components, server-side authentication, API routes and middleware.
• Frontend testing with Vitest, React Testing Library and Playwright.
• CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions; GitLab CI or Jenkins also considered.
• Docker and AWS for deployment.
• Nice to have: RBAC, WCAG accessibility, server-side auth beyond AWS Amplify or .NET, full-stack experience, AI-assisted code review.
